Chances are this summer that Lord’s Stanley’s Cup will have a lot more fun than all of us. It will take trips on boats and planes. Pose for pictures with beautiful women. The cup will break hearts. It will sneak out of windows. And all this because of one of the coolest traditions in sports. Every player on the championship 2010 Chicago Blackhawks will be able to spend one day with Cup this summer. A tradition started in 1995, the Cup gets a field trip with all the guys that helped win its glory. Then it gets beer poured into it. I think Lord Stanley would be more than happy with his Cup’s off-season escapades; it speaks to the genuine nature of the sport and the ultimate closeness of a hockey team.
