Jim Dowd of Brick and Derek Maguire of Delbarton were among those honored at the inaugural induction into the New Jersey High School Ice Hockey Hall of Fame before 400 Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark.
The event, hosted by the New Jersey Devils, honored nine players, three coaches, three contributors to the game and three teams.
“This is a great honor,” Dowd, the only player in New Jersey history to win a state championship, an NCAA title and a Stanley Cup, said. “I grew up here and I love New Jersey high school hockey. Getting this award is right up there with everything else. This is what made me.”
